GREENSBORO -- White Street Landfill opponents have filed paperwork to drop their lawsuit against the city of Greensboro, according to their attorney.
Residents who live near the landfill, the League of Women Voters of the Piedmont Triad and Citizens for Economic and Environmental Justice filed the lawsuit in May to prevent the council from expanding the landfill.
Their attorney, Chris Brook said the opponents believe the city will no longer pursue that option, therefore the lawsuit is no longer necessary.
He filed the paperwork to dismiss the case without prejudice Wednesday night, Brook said. That means opponents reserve the right to take up the claims again if the council changes its decision on the landfill.
