GREENSBORO -- Downtown may be in line for another new building.

Officials at Weaver Investment Co. say they have launched a study to determine how they might develop property they own in the 300 block of South Elm Street.

The property currently serves as a two-level parking deck between the Guilford Building at 301 S. Elm and Cheesecakes by Alex at 315 S. Elm.

Well, he can always cut off Weaver's free speech as he did at the county commissioners meeting.

This is a good and sound project. Can you say jobs and tax revenues!? It is an in-fill type project that is exactly what cities need. The local gov't should encourage such bldg. So many cities would like to see this sort of investment! Go Guys!

Yes it would be great if they do something that will help the City and bring jobs. But will they do that or bring in their own workers from outside, and build another bar which Downtown Greensboro does not need. But time will tell.

I get upset by the cruisers, the deadbeats, and the troublemakes that hang around downtown. I know too many people, mostly women over 35, who are afraid to come downtown after dark. In order for something like an apartment complex to work on that area of South Elm St, people need to feel safe. Now the police are doing a great job. A couple of years ago, the crowds were out of control.
