Construction on downtown ice rink begins Tuesday

Monday, November 7, 2011
(Updated 11:39 am)

— Construction will begin Tuesday on what organizers have called the largest downtown, outdoor ice skating rink in the state.

Based on last year's measurements, officials with Piedmont Winterfest say the rink at Festival Park will be larger than similar attractions in Raleigh and Charlotte.

Organizers say the rink, which will open Nov. 16 and run through Jan. 29, will measure 65 by 85 feet, compared to 40 by 85 feet last year.

I think it's a great thing whoever is paying. Sounds like ustaxpayer needs to move to Raleigh or Charlotte. I don't thing Greensboro is trying to compete, just have a little fun. Or should we all just sit around and mope because we're not Raleigh or CHarlotte?
