GREENSBORO — The Greensboro Grasshoppers presented $100,000 to 20 area charities today.
Each charity received $5,000 apiece.
The local minor league baseball team promised to donate $50,000 to charity at the end of the season and another $50,000 if the squad made the South Atlantic League playoffs.
The team said 275 local charities were nominated. The winners were picked at random.
Here are the 20 charities that received money from the Grasshoppers:

• P.O.W.E.R of Play; nominated by John Slack.
• SPCA of the Triad; nominated by Kim Highfill.
• Natural Science Center; nominated by Billy Tesh of Pest Management Inc.
• Greensboro Pregnancy Care Center; nominated by Randall Myers of Randall's Tire Pros.
• Red Dog Farm; nominated by Greg Berry of Ferguson Enterprises.
• Boy Scouts; nominated by Bobby Rives of Moser, Mayer, Phoenix & Associates.
• American Red Cross; nominated by Gail Casper of Pace Communications.
• Salvation Army; nominated by Boys & Girls Club of Greensboro, Macie Stratton of the U.S. National Whitewater Center.
• Piedmont Land Conservancy; nominated by Taylor Owens of The Owens Family.
• ALS Association; nominated by David Michaels of Redwolf Development.
• West Market Street United Methodist Church Scholarship Fund; nominated by Lex Alexander of Greensboro College.
• Susie's Hope; nominated by Marc Holcomb of Toys & Co.
