EDEN -- Eden should soon be home to what officials hope will be the first of several bus routes in Rockingham County. Rockingham Community Access Transit Services, a local non-profit, announced today it should have a route running around Eden before the spring of next year.
The route is being made possible in large part due to a nearly $270,000 federal grant but RCATS will need to come up with nearly $150,000 in matching funds. The group said it will raise that revenue by selling ads on its two new 18-passenger buses and at bus stops as well as charging about a $1 per trip.
However Lee Covington, the group’s executive director, said it is possible local support may be needed in the future.
