Michael Lee Foster Jr., 18, of Reidsville earned the Eagle Scout Award earlier this year.

Eagle Scout is the highest award from the Boy Scouts of America. Foster is a member of Troop 999 and is the son of Otis and Louise Foster.

Foster mapped and plotted graves for the Elm Grove Baptist Church Cemetery for his Eagle Scout project. The work enabled church members and families to easily find their loved ones.

For the second consecutive year, Rockingham Community College was named a Military Friendly School by G.I. Jobs magazine this month.

In compiling the list, more than 8,000 private and state-funded universities, colleges, community colleges and trade schools nationwide were researched for their practices toward active and veteran military personnel seeking an education. Of those, just over 1,500 were deemed military friendly.

Among the criteria used to weigh a school’s inclusion are offers of scholarships and discounts, veteran’s clubs, full-time staff members, military credit and other services.
