Celebrity products

Many products endorsed by celebrities usually don’t come cheap.

They can be two or three times the price of leading national brands.

That begs the question: Are they worth it?

Consumer Reports recently put celebrity-endorsed food to the test with some results that may surprise you.

The magazine found only three of 26 products to be “excellent.”

Half of the soups, sauces and salad dressings were described as average.

Foods rated excellent were Giada De Laurentiis tomato basil pasta sauce, Mario Batali marinara sauce and Wolfgang Puck tomato basil bisque.

Ten products were rated “very good” including Lidia Bastianich’s marinara sauce.

Read the full results in the magazine’s October issue. Subscribers also can view it at www.consumerreports.org.
