Updated - WENTWORTH -- Rockingham County is set to lose a third top ranking official this year. County officials confirmed today that Tom Wiggins, the county’s director of operations, has resigned and will take a job with Reidsville. Wiggins will work through September.

Wiggins is leaving to become Reidsville’s assistant city manager for community development and recreation where he'll make $85,000 per year, over $10,000 more a year than he is making with the county.

County Manager Tom Robinson retired last week after nearly 10 years with the county and Assistant County Manager Mike Apple will retire in October. Apple has agreed to work part-time for a year helping the county find his replacement and get that person settled in the job.

Rockingham future

A conservative-flavored board is taking effect. All the liberal, tax and spend bureaucrats are jumping ship. That's a good thing.
