EDEN — An investigation into a car crash ended in a suicide Sunday, according to the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office.
Highway Patrol Trooper Adam Carter was heading north on Ashley Loop Road and noticed a gray SUV partially in the road south of Anderson Road. Carter investigated and found the SUV had crashed and the driver, Christopher Jordan Fain, 23, appeared intoxicated.
As Carter questioned Fain he pulled out a small caliber handgun and, ignoring the trooper’s commands, shot himself, according to the sheriff’s office.
Fain, who lived in Reidsville, was taken to the hospital where he died.
No one else was injured and detectives with the sheriff’s office continue to investigate the incident.
