GRASSHOPPERS REPORT
Greensboro 9, Hagerstown 3
Site: Municipal Stadium, Hagerstown, Md.
Why the Grasshoppers won: Greensboro starting pitcher Robery Morey (7-7, 5.30 ERA) has figured something out. Over the last 23 innings, he has given up 14 hits, one run (no earned runs) and two walks all while striking out 25.
After giving up a leadoff single in the fourth, Morey retired the next 12 batters in order Monday night, five of those were on strikeouts.
Performances worth noting: Marcell Ozuna went 3-for-5 with a pair of RBIs on a two-out double in the fifth that was the game-winning hit. Ozuna is 16-for-32 (.500) with six RBIs in his last eight games. ... Mark Canha is 6-for-12 (.500) in his last four games with four RBIs.
Also worth noting: Another hats off to Jacob Realmuto. A day after homering off rehabbing big-leaguer Stephen Strasburg and catching 14 innings, he catches another nine innings and goes 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
The big play: Realmuto's two-run double with two out in the seventh made it 7-1.
Next up: Lakewood at Greensboro, 7 p.m. Wednesday
Note: Thursday's home game against Lakewood is Tropical Jersey Night. Game-worn jerseys will be auctioned at the end of the game with proceeds to benefit Habitat for Humanity of Greater Greensboro.
