Churches, agencies getting ready to give away school supplies for the upcoming year
GREENSBORO — Just a few weeks before those big yellow school buses start rolling out en masse, several giveaways have been announced to help parents with back-to-school supplies.
The supplies are usually being given out on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Upcoming giveaways:
• School supply giveaway, 10 a.m.-noon, Aug. 13, First United Methodist Church, 130 Main St., Eden. K-12 students are invited to pick up free supplies.
• School supply giveaway, 11 a.m. -5:30 p.m., Aug. 20, 3815 Clifton Road. Sponsored by Kingdom Covenant Church.
Groups wanting to be added to an online list of available supplies for the public should send details to staff writer Nancy McLaughlin at nmclaughlin@news-record.com.
