Excessive speed was a factor in a High Point motorcycle collision Friday that claimed a man's life.

Roderick Obrian Johnson, 31, died early Saturday morning from injuries sustained in the wreck.

High Point Police responded to a report of a traffic crash in the 1800 block of West English Road. Johnson was traveling west  on West English Road when he lost control of the motorcycle and collided with a vehicle pulling out of a business.

The vehicle's passengers were not injured.

Johnson was initially transported to High Point Regional Hospital, and then transferred to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center where he died.

The High Point Police department's Traffic Unit is still investigating the accident. Charges have not been filed at this time.
