From a news release:
Partners Ending Homelessness will host the third annual Home Run for Homelessness on Wednesday at NewBridge Bank Park, where the Greensboro Grasshoppers will play the Lakewood BlueClaws. And today is the deadline for ordering group tickets for the event.
Home Run for Homelessness was created three years ago by Partners Ending Homelessness to serve as a community celebration in commemoration of the implementation of Guilford County's Ten Year Plan to End Chronic Homelessness. Now, Home Run for Homelessness is an opportunity to increase Guilford County citizens' knowledge about homelessness in our community all while enjoying America's favorite pastime!
A portion of the proceeds of every group ticket sold will be donated to Partners Ending Homelessness. Group ticket rates are $7-9 when a minimum of 10 tickets is ordered. Contact Travis Kerstetter of the Greensboro Grasshoppers at 268-2889 or travis@gsohoppers.com. Today is the last day to reserve tickets.
The gates will open at 6 p.m. at which time the Thriving at Three Kids Carnival will kick off on Natty’s Hill within the stadium. The Thriving at Three Initiative is partnering again to support Partners Ending Homelessness to create awareness about the young children and families affected by homelessness in our community. The Kids Carnival is designed to increase community participation by offering families with children an exciting event filled with activities and attractions. These include face painting, obstacle courses, moon bounces, races, craft activities and more.
A choir of individuals experiencing homelessness will sing the national anthem. Additionally, the Boys and Girls Club of Greater High Point will sing “Take Me Out to the Ball Game” during the seventh-inning stretch. Event sponsors include the Grasshoppers, Lincoln Financial Group, Lorillard Tobacco Co., Westover Church, The Thriving at Three Initiative and East 14th Creative. Wachovia and Lincoln Financial Group have also partnered with Partners Ending Homelessness for the event by donating use of their luxury suites at NewBridge Bank Park.
