GREENSBORO — The N.C. Medical Board disciplined several area health care professionals in 2010, according to a report released this week by the board.
The board licenses and regulates doctors, physician assistants and certain other medical professionals. It has the power to conduct investigations and discipline health care professionals.
The following area people were disciplined last year:
• David Nelson Buckland, physician’s assistant, Asheboro. Public letter of concern for issuing prescriptions to family members.
• Bradford Allen Chase, physician’s assistant, High Point. License suspension for “inappropriately obtaining and abusing” Ultram, a pain medication, and Soma, a muscle relaxant.
• Dr. Michael Page Daniel, Burlington. Public letter of concern for failing to give patients copies of their medical records in a complete and timely fashion.
• Dr. Ralph Dauito, Greensboro. Public letter of concern for misreading an MRI to show that a patient had a bicep tendon tear. Exploratory surgery by another doctor revealed that there was no tear.
• Dr. David Campbell Gerlach, Greensboro. License suspension after a felony possession of cocaine charge was dismissed in court. He entered into a drug treatment center.
• Dr. James Scott Kramer, Greensboro. Probation for providing treatment and medication to a patient while engaged in a personal relationship with the patient.
• Dr. Randy Owen Kritzer, Greensboro. Public letter of concern over treatment of a patient with a spinal hematoma.
• John Paul McNeil, physician’s assistant, Greensboro. License suspension for having an inappropriate sexual relationship with a patient.
• Ashley Elizabeth Nowlan, physician’s assistant, High Point. License suspension for having a substance abuse problem. The board reissued her a license later in 2010.
• Dr. Kevshavpal Gunna Reddy, Greensboro. Reprimand for failure to supervise a clinical pharmacist practitioner’s treatment of a patient.
• Stephanie Marie Riddle, the pharmacist practitioner working for Reddy, was also reprimanded, according to the report.
• Dr. Mark Thomas Shapiro, Greensboro. Public letter of concern for prescribing medication to family members.
• Dr. Drew Kevin Siegel, Elon. License suspension for having a medical condition that affects his ability to practice medicine.
• Dr. Elizabeth Rankin Vaughan, Greensboro. Reprimand for “unprofessional conduct” in treatment and record keeping in regard to four patients.
