The Rockingham County Farm Bureau has donated $15,000 to the Rockingham Community Kitchen (www.rockinghamkitchen.org). The Community Kitchen is a joint project of Rockingham County Cooperative Extension and the Rockingham County Business and Technology Center.
The donation provided the matching funds required for a recently awarded N.C. Value-Added Cost Share-Equipment for Processors grant for $12,500.
Together the grants will be used to buy a steam kettle, labeler, scales, work tables, and other items for the kitchen. The new equipment and training will help food entrepreneurs safely produce a wider variety of value-added products.
