GREENSBORO — You’ll have to squint to see it.
But if you look closely at the new Scott toilet paper commercial, you’ll catch a glimpse of Elm Street in downtown Greensboro and other neighboring cities, swarming with empty tissue rolls.
A Los Angeles-based production company — lured by the Piedmont Triad Film Commission — shot a commercial for Scott’s new tube-free toilet paper in the Triad last fall.
Greensboro City Council members got a sneak preview of the advertisement on Tuesday.
It shows toilet paper tubes rolling through a city and forming a skyscraper to emphasize how much cardboard could be saved if consumers opt for the Scott tube-free variety.
No word from Scott about when the commercial might run.
If the Triad becomes known for the toilet paper revolution, you can thank Assistant City Manager Mike Speedling.
It was Speedling who stepped in at the 11th hour to sort out some last-minute permit issues to allow the shoot to happen.
That’s OK with him, Speedling said, because the production company spent about $300,000 locally during the shoot.
The green-ovation will not, however, resolve the question of whose job it is to replace the roll when it runs out.
You’ll have to work that out on your own.
