Moses Cone will open new HIV/AIDS assistance center

— Moses Cone Health System will join three agencies to open a Regional Center for Infectious Diseases that will make it easier to treat such diseases as HIV, AIDS and other infectious diseases.

Moses Cone will open the center Monday at 111 Wendover Medical Center, which is across Northwood Street from the Moses Cone Hospital.

The center will offer a nurse practitioner, two case managers from Triad Health Project and a mental health counselor from Family Service of the Piedmont.

The Cone Health Foundation, Central Carolina Health Network and UNC-Chapel Hill through the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program will help pay for the program.

The regional center will get 55 percent of its total budget with federal funding totaling $1.2 million. Non-government sources will provide $997,615.
