Jamestown Presbyterian Church will host its sixth annual Walk/Ride for Parkinson’s Research on April 30.
The event is held in cooperation with Parkinson’s Unity Walk.
A Bible study group created the local walk six years ago to honor John Hamil, an active member in the church and Jamestown community.
Mike Pendleton and Cycles de Oro added the bike ride in 2008. There are two distance rides — the 10-mile family-safe and the 25-mile recreational distance. There also will be a challenging and scenic 50-mile ride to Caraway Mountain.
Registration is not required. Walkers should arrive by 9 a.m. to start at 10 a.m. Bikers should show up by 8 a.m. to start at 9 a.m.
The event is free, but donations will be accepted. Lunch will be held afterward.
The church is at Jamestown Presbyterian Church, 1804 Guilford Road, Jamestown.
For information, call Debby Foster at 852-4389. Or visit www.cyclesdeoro.com and under the “Local Events We Support” heading on the left, click “Ride for Parkinsons.”
Donations can be sent, with checks payable to Parkinson’s Unity Walk, to P.O. Box 1963, Jamestown, NC 27282.
