GREENSBORO — A second man has been sent to prison for his part in a 2008 rape where a woman was shot in the eye with a BB gun and set on fire. She survived.
Jacquez Donja Jordan, 19, of Greensboro was sentenced last month to spend from 17 to 21 years in prison. He pleaded guilty Feb. 23 to attempted first-degree murder and first-degree sexual offense. Several other charges were dropped as part of a plea deal, court records show.
The charges stem from a crime on May 24, 2008, when a woman was raped, shot in the right eye with a BB gun and then set on fire after gasoline was poured over her.
The victim wrapped herself in a trash bag and went for help, records show. The News & Record does not name victims of sexual assault without their permission.
Calvin Gerod Allen, 26, also of Greensboro, pleaded guilty in 2009 to attempted murder and first-degree rape in the May crime. He pleaded to several charges in connection with a separate rape in August of 2008.
Police say that in the August rape, Allen held two women against their will, committed sex offenses against one of them and assaulted them, stabbing one woman with a screwdriver.
He received two sentences of 24 to 29 1/2 years to run back to back, court records show.
