Sedalia approves zone for manufactured housing

— The Sedalia Town Council voted 4-1 to designate three areas in the town for future residents to put mobile homes.

After two public hearings where residents were given an opportunity to voice their opinions about rezoning and designating the overlay districts, four of the five council members decided it was necessary to move forward.

“As a council, we were put in place to do a job on behalf of the town,” Councilwoman Valarie Mack said. “We’re trying to create somewhere nice for everyone to live, but we want to mold it in a certain way.”

The designated areas are on Simmons Lake Drive, Burlington Road and Palmer Farm Road. As the land use plan now stands, those will be the only places for future homeowners to put double-wide homes.
