Duke is No. 1 again after a rare week in which the top four teams in The Associated Press' college basketball poll all lost.

The Blue Devils jumped from fifth place. They had been No. 1 in the preseason poll and for the first eight weeks of the season. Duke received 35 first-place votes Monday from the 65-member national media panel.

Ohio State stays at No. 2 with 10 first-place votes. Kansas drops from No. 1 to third with five first-place votes. Pittsburgh was No. 1 on 12 ballots and stayed fourth. Texas drew one first-place vote and fell two spots to fifth. San Diego State, BYU, Purdue, Notre Dame and Arizona round out the top 10. BYU had two first-place votes.

At No. 19, North Carolina is the only other ACC team in the top 25.

St. John's is No. 23, its first poll appearance since November 2000.

Not real sure what rankings, preseason or in season, really mean any more. My question is where will you be after your conference's tournament and/or if you make it to the Big Dance, how well do you do there?

That's why they call it March Madness.

Agreed. The only game that matters is the last game of the year. GO DUKE!
