— Deluxe Corp., which prints and sells checks, will close a call center in Phoenix and move an undetermined number of jobs to its Greensboro call center.

Jim Thomsen, vice president marketing check program and operations, said the St. Paul, Minn.-based company decided to close the Phoenix center so it can operate fewer offices but keep the same number of staff.

The closure will affect about 175 workers, but Thomsen said the company hasn’t worked out how many of those jobs will be moved to Greensboro or to other locations.

Deluxe’s call centers provide assistance to financial companies and their clients, mostly small businesses. The company employs 5,800 workers nationwide. The change likely will be finished by the end of 2011, he said.

The Greensboro operation on Farmington Drive is 17 years old and employs nearly 250 people, a spokeswoman said.
