GREENSBORO — As the new year approaches, here's a look back at store openings, closings and other retail happenings in 2010.

January

Foot Locker, which has stores in the Triad, announced plans to close 117 stores by the end of January.

The Finish Line, which sold athletic footwear, closed its store at Oak Hollow Mall in High Point.

Toys & Co. (3110 Northline Ave, Greensboro; 294-1114) moved into bigger digs at Friendly Center.

Dollar Tree (2805 Battleground Ave.; 282-5902) opened another store in Greensboro.

February

Junk in the Trunk (4207 Summit Ave., Greensboro; 375-7045) doubled in size.

Rubenesque for Less (511 State St., Greensboro; 288-8772), a plus-size women's consignment store, moved into roomier digs at State Street Station.

Linnea's Boutique (515 State St., Greensboro; 545-3003), once a separate store that became a room at Rubenesque in 2009, now has its own space.

March

Mack and Mack (220 S. Elm St., Greensboro; 275-6225) remodeled its showroom.

Adelaide's Vintage Home and Garden (1938 Spring Garden St., Greensboro; 335-3026) moved into bigger digs.

Songbirds Consignments (2610 Lawndale Drive, Greensboro; 288-5456) remodeled its store.

The Flea Market Store (304 E. Market St., Greensboro; 601-4884) opened in downtown Greensboro.

The Greensboro Historical Museum shop (130 Summit Ave., Greensboro; 373-2043) underwent renovations.

Blockbuster kiosks were placed at nearly all 365 Sheetz convenience stores.

Macy's wrapped up its gift-wrapping service.

Journeys Kidz (292-7571) and Bovanti Cosmetics & Spa (299-0109) opened at Four Seasons Town Centre in Greensboro.

April

The Trinity Street Flea Market (1107 Trinity St., Thomasville; 314-3294) opened.

Nie's American Oriental Market (3116 Summit Ave., Greensboro; 253-6609) opened.

Barry's Menswear closed its Greensboro store.

AT&T opened a store in Greensboro (4405 Wendover Ave.; 299-7329).

Cuffs announced it would close its Battleground Avenue store in May.

James Hogan (301 State St., Greensboro; 378-9919) opened in the State Street Station shopping village.

A federal bankruptcy judge approved Movie Gallery's plan to close its 1,050 remaining stores.

Walmart stores on Wendover and Battleground avenues in Greensboro got makeovers.

Beverly Hills on Main in Jamestown, renamed Beverly's Down the Hill, moved to 101 Depot Lane (580-1542).

Southwyck Antiques & Gifts (517 State St., Greensboro; 617-6254) opened at State Street Station.

August

Randy's Quilt Shop near the Target shopping center in Greensboro closed.

Best Buy opened a mobile store at Four Seasons Town Centre in Greensboro.

September

This, That & Th' Other (5715 Market St.; 856-2229) opened in Greensboro.

SRI Shoe Warehouse decided to move its High Point Road store to 3721 Battleground Ave. in Greensboro (294-9030).

Lowes Foods opened a store just north of Greensboro (5820-F N. Church St.; 644-7774).

Blumenthal's, a Greensboro fixture for 84 years, closed one of its stores.

Sign-A-Rama 3125 Spring Garden St., Greensboro; 545-1124) announced a merger with Triad Sign Guys.

A UPS Store (3121 High Point Road, Greensboro; 323-4909) opened in the Sheraton Greensboro at Four Seasons.

October

Ruth Messmer and her husband opened Smith Christmas at The Shops at Friendly Center (3326 W. Friendly Ave., Greensboro; 851-5682).

Ace Hardware (419 Pisgah Church Road; 286-8100) opened a store in Greensboro.

Sav-A-Lot opened a store in Eden (640 S. Van Buren Road 627-9555).

Ollie's Bargain Outlet opened a store in Greensboro (1314 Bridford Parkway; 398-1589).

November

Whole Foods Market, a natural and organic grocer, revealed plans to open a store at Friendly Center in Greensboro in spring 2012.

The Tanger Outlet Center in Mebane opened at 4000 Arrowhead Blvd., north of Interstate 40/85 at Exit 154.

Eco Dwelling (2417-C Lawndale Ave., Greensboro; 545-7777) opened.

Merge (527 S. Elm St., Greensboro; 932-1859) held its grand opening.

The Cat's Meow Boutique (517 State St., Greensboro; 617-6254) opened.

Several new stores opened at Burlington Outlet Village.

They include Designer Home Warehouse, Dollar Store and Sunny Patch Kids' Consignment.

RanLinS, which mainly sold used books and used DVDs, closed its store in Randleman.

December

If It's Paper closed its store on Battleground Avenue in Greensboro.

Clutch City (1254 Plaza Drive; 506-6636) opened at Burlington Outlet Village.
