GREENSBORO — A convicted sex offender wanted in Randolph County was arrested Wednesday in Kentucky where he was living under an assumed name, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.
Raymond T. Gallagher, 56, of Greensboro, was arrested near Louisville, Ky., by marshals with the Western Kentucky Regional Fugitive Task Force, according to a news release.
Gallagher had been wanted in Randolph County on charges of indecent liberties with a minor and sex offender registry violations in Guilford County.
Local sheriff’s offices contacted the U.S. Marshals office for the Middle District of North Carolina to seek assistance locating Gallagher.
Federal investigators launched their own investigation and developed information that Gallagher had fled to Kentucky and was living under an assumed name. He was located and arrested Wednesday evening.
In addition to state charges, Gallagher also faces federal charges related to violations of the Sex Offender Registry Notification Act.
More charges may be forthcoming as a result of information marshals obtained during Gallagher’s arrest.
According to the N.C. Department of Correction, Gallagher was convicted in 2003 of two felony counts of indecent liberties with a minor in Guilford County.
