Arrest warrants state he told a man to lie to an investigating officer at Thursday morning’s mass shooting at the corner of South Elm Street and February One Place.

Warrants state Washington encouraged a witness to lie to Greensboro police Officer K.B. Johnson about what he witnessed and then he grabbed the witness and attempted to pull him away.

Washington was released on a written promise to appear in court.

Quinton Dewayne Campbell, 22, of Winston-Salem was charged in the shooting of four people at the intersection before being shot by Greensboro police Cpl. J.M. Atkins.

As of late Thursday, Campbell remained hospitalized in stable condition at Moses Cone Hospital after being shot in the chest, pelvis and shoulder.

He was charged with four counts of attempted murder and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon.
