GREENSBORO — A man was seriously injured in a wreck Tuesday night on U.S. 29, police said in a news release.
Southbound lanes that had been closed near Hicone Road after the wreck were opened early this morning.
About 6:50 p.m. Tuesday, Mark Wesley Greene of Gibsonville was driving a 1998 Toyota Camry north on U.S. 29 when he tried to turn left onto N. O'Henry Street, police said.
Darnell Larry Cobb, 48, was driving a 2004 Kenworth tractor-trailer south on U.S. 29 when Greene turned into his path and was struck on the passenger side, police said.
Greene was taken to Moses Cone Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The truck driver was able to escape on his own. The truck caught fire at one point, but firefighters were able to extinguish it quickly.
Police are still investigating the cause of the crash. No charges have been filed.
