BURLINGTON (MCT) — A deer pushed its way into the Holly Hill Mall on Tuesday morning.

While no one expected to see a deer in the mall — especially two months before Christmas — no one was injured and the deer was escorted out without incident.

The deer entered the mall through the door near Main Event on the Huffman Mill Road side of the building.

Kent Frederickson, the mall's operations manager, was outside sweeping the parking lot at about 8 a.m. when he saw the deer enter the front door. He corralled the deer in a fire corridor for about 20 minutes.

When police arrived, the deer was released. It went out the front door and ran across the street into a residential neighborhood. The deer wasn't hurt.

No stores were open when the deer came inside. Misti Brice, the mall's general manager, said they had just unlocked the doors when the deer showed up.
