Rockingham People: Students make grade at N.C. State

The following Rockingham County students earned a place on the Dean’s List at N.C. State during the spring semester:

Eden: Bilal Arshad Bajwa, Kara Alyce Hall, Jessica Marie Johnson, Adriane Jakell Meadows , Nerissa Diane Peace, Callie Thomas Tucker.

Madison: Daniel Wallace Brumfield, Clayton Richard Glandt, Sarah Elizabeth McGrath, Joseph A. Silvers, Kaitlyn Rose Tucker, Sonni Leanne Wilson.

Mayodan: Matthew M. Haentschke.

Reidsville: Frazier Mack Brame, Peggy Elizabeth Cervantes, John Robert Claybrook, Aaron D. Griffith, Samuel Webster Griffith, Andrew Ross Moore, Geoffrey William Murphy, Allison Jeanne Nolker, Daniel C. Rowe, Crystal Lea Tabor.

Ruffin: Justin Michael Thacker, Jodi Lynne Troxler, Katherine Dianne Walker.

Stoneville: Benjamin Taylor Claybrook, Stephanie Diane Lowder, David Michael Mabe, Matthew I. Mckinlay, Albert Taylor Chase Patterson, Angela G. White.

Wentworth: Sara Jane Marley.

Navy Seaman Patrick A. Stone of Reidsville recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill.

Stone completed a variety of training which included classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival, and shipboard and aircraft safety. An emphasis was also placed on physical fitness.

Stone graduated from Rockingham County High School in 2008.

Army Pfc. William T. Mangus graduated from the Direct Fire Infantryman One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning in Columbus, Ga.

Mangus received training in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, other skills.

He graduated from Morehead High School in Eden in 2004.

Marine Corps Pvt. Lucas F. Haynes recently completed 12 weeks of basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot in Parris Island, S.C.

Haynes spent many hours in classroom and field assignments that included learning first aid, uniform regulations, combat water survival, marksmanship, hand-to-hand combat and assorted weapons training.

Haynes is the son of Brenda G. and Thomas F. Haynes of Stoneville.
