GREENSBORO — Learn how to give your home a dream makeover on a budget during a home tour next month.
For the second consecutive year, organizers of Chic Chateau are decorating a new home off New Garden Road with items found in local consignment, salvage and antiques stores.
Everything in the home will also be for sale for about $15 to several hundred dollars, according to Sherry Sarine, one of the event organizers.
Furnishings for sale will include window treatments, a dining room table from the 1920s that was rescued from a warehouse, and original artwork.
The home is at 3702 Stratton Hills Drive or near the home Chic Chateau used last year.
The tour costs $10. It will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 24-25 and Oct. 1-2 and noon to 5 p.m. Sept. 26 and Oct. 3.
The home tour is just one of three things Chic Chateau is hosting this year.
Two new events to be held at the house are the Pearls and Purses Fashion Show, which is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sept. 28.
It costs $25 and features hors d’oeuvres courtesy of Pepper Moon Catering.
Lunch and Learn, which includes a box lunch courtesy of Panera Bread, will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 29. Cost is $25.
Topics at Lunch and Learn are container gardening with Becky Berling of New Garden Nursery from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and transforming your thrift and consigned finds with Debbie Hayes of Faux Design Studio from 11:30 a.m. to noon.
If you choose the tour, Pearls and Purses and Lunch and Learn, you’ll pay $50.
Net proceeds will benefit The Barnabas Network, Housing Greensboro, Habitat for Humanity, Ten Thousand Villages and the Children’s Home Society of North Carolina.
Tickets to all the events will be sold at local consignment shops. Get locations and other information at thechicchateau.blogspot.com.
