GREENSBORO – A local lawyer announced Thursday that he is withdrawing his candidacy to become a Guilford County Superior Court judge.

Joe Floyd II, 43, was arrested in late July in Mecklenburg County on charges of breaking and entering and harassing phone calls.

Recently, details have emerged of his messy divorce battle that involved a protection order and his ex-wife filing an alienation of affection lawsuit against the woman she claimed broke up their marriage.

He intends to release a statement about his decision to withdraw late Thursday.

Floyd, who is a trial lawyer in High Point, was running against incumbent Superior Court Judge Lindsay R. Davis Jr. for his seat in District 18D in November.
