GREENSBORO — A Greensboro man was charged last week with the rape of a 13-year-old Randolph County girl.
Christopher Eric Donaldson, 38, of 1700 Glenside Drive was charged July 28 with two counts of statutory rape after a joint investigation by sheriff’s deputies in Randolph and Guilford counties.
According to court records, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation earlier last month after a parent found an entry in her daughter’s journal that indicated she had a sexual encounter with a Greensboro man she met online.
Detectives determined that sexual encounters happened at Donaldson's home, according to a news release.
Detectives recovered numerous computers and related software from Donaldson’s residence, according to a search warrant.
Donaldson was charged with two counts of statutory rape and one count of solicitation of a child by computer. He was booked into the Guilford County jail in Greensboro on a $1 million bond.
More charges are possible, authorities said.
The arrest was made through the efforts of the Piedmont Internet Crimes Against Children task force.
