CARY (AP) — Film companies and video game producers that operate in North Carolina could benefit from an economic incentives bill ready to become state law.
Gov. Beverly Perdue prepared to sign into law on Thursday a bill that would expand tax breaks and credits to a host of companies that recruiters want to do business in the state. Perdue planned to tour the Cary headquarters of a video game developer before the bill-signing ceremony.
Perdue asked for the more generous credits for production companies because she says they'll help North Carolina compete with other states that want movies made within their boundaries.
Perdue also plans to sign another bill into law that creates a certain kind of limited liability company formed for both business and charitable purposes.
