Too many children are being prescribed drugs

As an educator, I am concerned about the overuse of drugs, such as Ritalin, for two main reasons:

These drugs can sometimes be substituted for effective discipline; and they could have a long-term, negative effect on the development of children’s native intelligence and learning ability.

This issue is related to the present work of the state legislature as well as to that of local officials. More pressure will be placed on drugging the children if classes are forced to be enlarged in the present economy.
