Business award winners named at luncheon

GREENSBORO – The Greensboro Chamber of Commerce recognized companies and individuals for distinguished achievement today at its Business Awards Luncheon.

The award winners include:

  • Nussbaum Center Associate of the Year – Perez-Simons Web Studios, formed by Mariela Perez-Simons.
  • Minority Business Person of the Year – Oscar Gibson, of CES Graphic Media.
  • Small Business Person of the Year – Ed & Anna Currie of Exclamations Catering/Piedmont Triad Productions.
  • Small Business Advocate of the Year – Julius Koonce, an entrepreneur and advocate with “ It’s About Your Business,” a weekly Internet show.
  • Women in Business Award – Gina Deese, owner of A.C.T by Deese.

Other awards given at the luncheon:

GMA Retailer of the Year – jointly given with the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce to Pepper Moon Catering

The Pinnacle Award - jointly given with the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce to Greensboro Radiology

Employers of the Year, given by the Mayor’s Committee for Persons with Disabilities:

  • Large Business – Sodexo
  • Medium Business – Harris Teeter
  • Small Business – HandyCapable Network
  • Brandt Taylor Barrier Free Success Award – Housing Greensboro

Arts in Business Award – Given jointly by the United Arts Council/GMA/Chamber of Commerce to Mitchell & Bartlett Orthodontics.
