RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Hendrick Motorsports extended the contracts of crew chiefs Alan Gustafson and Chad Knaus on Friday.
Gustafson, currently crew chief for the No. 5 car driven by Mark Martin, said he received a four-year deal that runs through 2014. He likely will be paired with Kasey Kahne when he joins NASCAR's top team.
Knaus has guided Jimmie Johnson to the past four NASCAR championships as crew chief of the No. 48. Knaus said his extension is for five years and will run through 2015, putting it in line with the contract Johnson signed in November.
Team owner Rick Hendrick said last week he was close to locking down both crew chiefs with long-term deals.
