WINSTON-SALEM - A 42-year-old school teacher was arrested on charges of sexual misconduct involving a student, the Forsyth County Sheriff's office said today.
On Thursday, a school system administrator contacted the sheriff's office to report an allegation of sexual misconduct involving a teacher at Parkland High School and a female student, according to a sheriff's office press release.
Steven Kennard Waddell, of 6025 Dustin Ridge Court in Winston-Salem, was arrested Friday and charged with one felonious count of taking indecent liberties with a student and one misdemeanor count of sexual battery, the sheriff's office said.
He was employed as a computer technology teacher at Parkland High School pending administrative action by the school board.
Waddell was being held in the Forsyth County jail under a $100,00 secured bond.
A preliminary hearing was set for May 14.
