Spring has finally arrived at Northeast Park — 80-plus-degree weather and flowers blooming, and we’ve even had to cut the grass a few times.
After an extremely bitter southern winter, I am sure everyone is eager to engage in outdoor activities.
We are looking forward to a fun and activity-filled spring and summer.
Summer camps
We are excited to introduce our Summer Day Camp schedule:
Registration begins Monday. Visit our Web site: www.northeastpark.info for complete details.
Conservation day
Our Annual Youth Conservation Day is scheduled for 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 15.
This is an outstanding opportunity for youth to experience many adventures in the great outdoors. Take part in interactive displays, such as archery, hunting, boating, fishing and biking.
Admission is free for ages 7-17. A wild-game lunch is included.
Registration is required. Call Guilford County 4-H at 375-5876 to sign up.
Star gazing
Join us for “Star-Gazing in the Park” 8-10 p.m. April 23. (Rain date is April 24.) We are teaming up once again with the Physics Department at Elon University for this event. Everyone will have ample opportunity to view craters on the Moon, the Orion Nebula, Saturn and Mars through a variety of telescopes. Elon students will be on hand to answer all your questions. Admission is free.
Pool season
Swimming-pool time is just around the corner.
The Aquatic Center will be open weekends May 22 through June 6 and seven days a week beginning June 12.
Don’t forget to stop by and purchase your season pool pass. A pass for a family of four is only $175. An individual adult pass is $85.
The Aquatic Center is available for private parties after the pool closes Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings.
Shelter reservations are filling up quickly. Don’t forget to call and make a reservation for your next family gathering, birthday party or company outing.
