Glenn boys basketball coach Lee Reavis said Wednesday he will leave the school at the end of the year to become the head coach at Northwest Guilford, ending a successful seven-year tenure to move closer to his childhood home.

“I feel like I have a little bit of an understanding of the community,” said Reavis, 39, who was raised in Summerfield, graduated from Northwest in 1988 and still lives five minutes from the school. “I’m familiar with the area, familiar with the people associated with the school. I have some friends teaching on staff here. I’m just coming in with somewhat of a background, I guess.”

Northwest athletics director John Hughes said he couldn’t comment until the school board approves the hire next week, but Reavis confirmed he will teach physical education and run in-school suspension at Northwest.
