Kerry Miller, chairman of the Jamestown planning board, broke a tie vote Monday night when he voted to recommend approval of rezoning the Potter Log House property to the Jamestown Town Council.
Board members Victor Gilliland and Lynn Montgomery voted against recommendation.
The Jamestown Town Council will have the final vote. The council will set a public hearing date at its March 16 meeting. The projected public hearing date is 7 p.m. May 18.
The 3.7-acre property is at 301-303 W. Main St. The log house sits on the mostly vacant tract; a large portion of the building burned several years ago.
Bojangles wants to build a restaurant with a drive-through window on the front 1.22 acres. A private access road also would be built along the property to access the back portion of the property, which will be kept by the Ragsdale Brothers for future development.
Conditions submitted by the applicant are that the building would have a brick veneer exterior, a hedge with a minimum height of 2 feet to screen the drive-through from view of Main Street, and a brick sidewalk along the road at Main Street.
