LEXINGTON — A man wanted in connection with a bank robbery in Stanly County was arrested Monday in Davidson County.
The Stanly County Sheriff's Office said the First Bank at 134 N.C. 49 in Richfield was robbed Monday when a man entered with a knife and demanded cash. The suspect drove off in a red pickup with an undisclosed amount of money.
A witness remembered the truck's license plate, and authorities found it was registered to a Denton resident. About 45 minutes after the robbery, Davidson County deputies found the suspect's truck near his home in Denton.
Arrested was Jason Michael Hilton, 30, of 264 A.R. Morris in Denton. Hilton was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and possession of a firearm by a felon. He is being held in the Stanly County jail on a $100,000 bond.
