GREENSBORO -- Spring is in the air for some shops in the Triad.
Mack and Mack, which targets baby boomers, has recently undergone a makeover in time for the change in seasons.
The high-end boutique (220 S. Elm St.; 275-6225) has remodeled its showroom so customers can shop more easily for spring and summer ensembles.
The showroom features areas devoted to complete ensembles for island weddings, formal weddings, the office, daytime outfits and more.
A big change is the store no longer has its "sale alley," which featured items marked down by 50 percent except at the end of the month when they were 75 percent off.
Now, the store has a "red ribbon" sale. Ribbons are tied onto random hangers, indicating the items are 50 percent off. And the items with ribbons can be switched at any time.
Outdoor equipment sale
If your spring cleaning to-do list includes getting rid of some outdoor stuff collecting dust, here's a chance to earn some cold, hard cash.
You can sell unwanted goods during a spring sale at Lake Higgins Watershed Park (4235 Hamburg Mill Road; 373-3739).
The sale is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 17.
Items you can sell include fishing gear, bikes, biking gear, skis, snowboard gear, backpacking gear, canoes, kayaks, motor boats and equipment.
Items that can't be sold include rock climbing gear, guns or bows.
Sign up at the park before April 16.
A $5 seller's fee for a 10-by-10-foot space is due on the day of the event.

Huge consignment sale
Kids EveryWear's huge consignment sale in Morrisville might be worth a road trip from the Triad.
That's because the event features more than 1,000 consigners and hundreds of volunteers selling kids' clothing, toys, furniture, maternity clothes, boutique-brand items and more.
The sale is at Morrisville Outlet Mall (Exit 284 off Interstate 40) near Raleigh-Durham International Airport.
Kids EveryWear also works with local charities.
In December, the group supplied clothes, mostly from donations, to 1,155 children through Catholic Parish Outreach.
Sale hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday.
Kmart, Sears still open here
The owner of Sears and Kmart recently announced plans to close 21 more stores around the country but none in the Triad.
That's 56 stores that Sears Holdings Corp. has said during the past year that it will close.
In North Carolina, a Sears store in Wilson will close.
