BALTIMORE — Morgan State showed why it is the MEAC regular-season champs for a second straight year when it rallied from a five-point halftime deficit to beat N.C. A&T 81-67 on Monday night in men's basketball at Hill Field House.
Morgan State (23-9, 14-1 MEAC) shot 57 percent from the field in the second half, including 50 percent (6-for-12) from 3-point range.
Reggie Holmes kept the Bears in the game with 21 points in the first half. He finished with 32 points, including a school-record eight 3-pointers, on 11-of-22 shooting. Joe Davis scored 15 points, DeWayne Jackson added 12 and Kevin Thompson had 12 rebounds for Morgan.
Sophomore forward Thomas Coleman had a strong all-around game for A&T (10-20, 6-9), with 16 points, 14 rebounds and two blocks in 27 minutes of play. Smith alumnus Tavarus Alston also scored 16 points and Dwane Joshua added 14 for the Aggies, who were outrebounded 48-35.
A&T has now lost three games in a row. The Aggies finish their regular season at 8 p.m. Thursday at home at Norfolk State. N.C.
