RALEIGH (AP) — The witness who testified against a North Carolina man at the 1993 murder trial that resulted in his conviction is testifying again, this time at a special innocence hearing.

Ernest Andrews of New Bern said Monday that he stood by the testimony he gave against Greg Taylor at the murder trial, when he said Taylor confessed to him in jail to killing a prostitute in Raleigh in 1991.

A three-judge panel is hearing the case against the 47-year-old Taylor because the North Carolina Innocence Inquiry Commission recommended it for judicial review.

The court plans to hear closing arguments Wednesday, when the judges say they'll issue a decision. Court will not be held Tuesday.
