Rep. Alma Adams and Sen. Katie Dorsett, both Greensboro Democrats, picked up a couple of new titles earlier this month.
Women in Government swore in Adams as a new state director, while Dorsett became chairwoman of the board of directors.
Women in Government is a network of women serving in state legislatures that provides a forum to talk about common policy issues. Rep. Pat Hurley, a Randolph County Republican, is also a state director for the group.
Calling Bev
Scoop got a request from an unknown caller — our favorite kind, just behind heavy breathers who are cussing us out — asking how does one contact that governor of ours. As it turns out, it’s not that hard, although you probably shouldn’t expect to get Gov. Bev Perdue herself on the horn.
“We have an entire constituent service staff who does nothing but answer phone calls, e-mails and letters,” said Chrissy Pearson, communications director for Perdue. “You will get a response no matter how you contact this office.”
Because they field hundreds, if not thousands, of calls and letters every week, Pearson said correspondents may have to wait a week or two for a reply.
“We do ask for patience,” she said.
That said, here are the digits:
