Mayor's committee for disabled honors 3 people

GREENSBORO — The Greensboro Mayor’s Committee for Persons With Disabilities announced recipients of the Distinguished Service Awards on Tuesday.

April Lee of the News & Record, Tammy Grubb-Newton of Guilford Center, Ellen Atkins of EMM Financial Services were selected for their outstanding efforts on the mayor’s committee during 2009.

This award, given to individuals working with the committee, honors the recipients' dedication and efforts to improving the quality of life for people with all levels of abilities.

“The Greensboro Mayor’s Committee, a coalition of business, agencies and individuals, greatly appreciates and recognizes the work of these individuals to bring awareness and inclusion opportunities to all residents of our city,” committee chairman Steve Knier said in a news release.
