GREEENSBORO — The female-friendly Curves gyms are asking ladies to fork over their extra food for charity in exchange for a free membership or another treat.

Curves locations in the Triad will collect non-perishable items and monetary donations for local food banks during the entire month of March.

Non-members who donate a bag of groceries or make a minimum donation of $30 between March 8 and March 20 can join Curves for free. Curves will waive the cost to join.

Members who do likewise will receive a reusable Curves grocery freezer bag for free.

Curves locations in the Triad will participate in the company-wide contest for the most food drive donations collected by Curves locations across the nation. Winners will receive one of several cash prizes to be donated to their local food bank. Each year, the company donates millions of pounds of food to feed the hungry.
