GREENSBORO — Area school systems are closing or opening late today because of slick roads caused by precipitation Thursday night and this morning.
All weekend activities involving Guilford County Schools facilities have been canceled. The district's administrative offices are closing at 3 p.m. Friday
The parent information sessions and tours at Oak Ridge Elementary have been postponed until Feb. 13.
The cancellation also includes the GCS Habitat for Humanity project activities that were scheduled for Saturday. The district’s “Walls Up” day has been moved to Feb. 27.
Area school systems that are closed Friday:
* Guilford County Schools; optional teacher workday. After-school activities are canceled.
* Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools also will be closed Friday.
* Randolph County Schools
* Rockingam County Schools (employee code E)
* Davidson County Schools (employee code A)
* Lexington City Schools
* Thomasville City Schools
Alamance-Burlington Schools will open two hours late.
These universities are closed today:
* N.C. A&T
* UNCG
* GTCC (day classes)
* Forsyth Tech (day and night classes)
* Rockingham Community College
* Randolph Community College
* Wake Forest University
Alamance Community College will open at 10 a.m. Friday.
