Despite the cold, dreary conditions this morning, the Natural Science Center's groundhog, Woody, predicted an early spring during Groundhog Day festivities on Tuesday.
Using his state-of-the-art weather center and his weather sense while listening to the cheers of the children, he made his decision in the Natural Science Center's Science Theater.
Even though the Science Center was closed today because of bad weather, a large crowd turned out for the prediction. As the legend goes, if a groundhog comes out of his burrow Feb. 2 and sees his shadow, there will be six more weeks of winter.
When Woody came out of his weather center, flowers popped up, indicating an early spring.
