I would like to thank the many runners along the Greenway over the summer and fall. I train with a Special Olympic athlete who wanted to be a “marathon man.”
Andy and I ran many days and many runners came by us, always with high fives or words of encouragement.
Andy called them his fans. They helped Andy reach his goal. He ran in six 5Ks, one 10K and ended the year running the half marathon at Victory Junction.
He logged in 37.9 miles officially and that’s more than a marathon.
He started 2010 off with the Resolution Run so keep the high fives coming!
I’m just the navigator. We ran when Andy wanted to run and that was pretty much all the time.
I appreciated the generous spirit of the running community. You embraced a young man and made him feel great. Many thanks to you all.

On Friday, Jan. 15, I was driving on West Market Street, approaching Spring Garden Street. As I reached the intersection, my car cut off and would not restart.
Both lanes of traffic were crowded. I could do nothing.
It so happened that in the other lane, Bill O’Neil and another gentleman from WXII-TV were in the WXII van. They saw my dilemma and came to help. After trying with no success, they called 911.
In seconds, a Greensboro police officer was on the scene. The officer got the traffic under control and moving. I was finally able to get the car started, and I was on my way home. The police officer followed me to my driveway, seeing that I arrived home safely.
I failed to get the name of the officer or the name of the gentleman with Bill O’Neil. I hope that these three men see this and know how much I appreciate their kindness.
