Page High School will present a pair of contrasting plays this week in the school’s auditorium.
Students will present the drama “The House of Bernarda Alba” on Wednesday and Friday and the comedy “Noises Off” on Thursday and Saturday. In the drama, an unpleasant woman imposes a period of mourning on her household set to last eight years after the death of her second husband.
The woman has five daughters between the ages of 20 and 39 that she’s sheltered and controlled excessively.
The isolation intensifies during the mourning period and tension mounts within the house.
The comedy, “Noises Off,” is a play within a play.
The interior play, “Nothing On,” is the type of play in which young girls run around in their underwear while old men drop their trousers and doors continually open and shut.
A lot of the comedy comes out as off-stage chaos affects the characters’ onstage performance in a slapstick way.
Both plays will begin at 7 p.m., on their respective nights with doors opening at 6:30 p.m.
Tickets will be $4 at the door.
